Community Visioning for Conservation: Public Participation in Florida’s Long-Range Planning

September 11, 2025

This webinar explored how community visioning and science-based decision making can help Florida communities shape sustainable growth and protect natural lands, with a special focus on the Florida Wildlife Corridor. Presenters shared highlights from the newly released Community Visioning & Landscape Conservation Planning report, commissioned by 1000 Friends of Florida and the University of Florida’s Center for Landscape Conservation Planning. The report draws on case studies such as Lake Wales and Nassau County to illustrate how public participation, science-based planning, and local government leadership can work together to protect green infrastructure and guide development away from environmentally sensitive areas.
