NOTE: The Sea Level 2070 data shown below is based on 2015 Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) moderate population growth projections to make it consistent with the earlier 2016 Florida 2070/Water 2070 study, while the Sea Level 2040 data shown above is based on BEBR’s 2021 moderate population growth projection. There are two primary reasons for any discrepancies between these projections. First, BEBR projected a higher rate of growth in 2015 and adjusted the rate of growth downward for 2070 in its 2021 projections. In some cases when using the 2015 projections for 2070, these adjustments resulted in somewhat lower population growth projections for specific counties when compared to the 2040 projections using more recent data. Second, actual population growth that occurred between 2015 and 2021 is subtracted from the 2070 projections, making the 2070 figures lower.
